A SENATE RESOLUTION

RECOGNIZING AND CONGRATULATING MR. JOE WILSON OF CLEARWATER FOR BEING SELECTED BY THE SOUTH CAROLINA ASSOCIATION OF AGRICULTURAL EDUCATORS AS THE SOUTH CAROLINA AGRICULTURE EDUCATION TEACHER OF THE YEAR.

Whereas, Mr. Joe Wilson of Clearwater has been named the state's top agriculture educator by the South Carolina Association of Agricultural Educators; and

Whereas, Mr. Wilson, a native South Carolinian born in Calhoun Falls in Abbeville County, has been an agriculture education teacher at Aiken High School for twenty-five years; and

Whereas, Mr. Wilson is known for having special teaching talents and a unique gift for reaching students in meaningful and lasting ways; and

Whereas, Mr. Wilson directs a hands-on food production experience through raising fish and planting, growing, and harvesting vegetables, fruits, and flowers; and

Whereas, he not only teaches the importance of agriculture in our daily lives, he also imparts the value of service in his role as the Future Farmers of America (FFA) advisor; and

Whereas, he also guides his students in living the FFA motto of "Learning to do, doing to learn, earning to live, and living to serve", through a variety of projects including landscaping at nursing homes, plant sales, roadside litter pickup, and food bank produce donations; and

Whereas, Mr. Wilson has also been recognized on the national level at the FFA National Convention this year being the only South Carolina teacher to receive the Honorary American Future Farmers of America Degree; and

Whereas, Joe Wilson is a beloved teacher, mentor, and friend to his many students and is greatly respected and admired by his coworkers, peers, and the agricultural community; and

Whereas, the Senate is pleased to have the opportunity to recognize the many accomplishments and outstanding contributions of the South Carolina Association of Agricultural Educators Teacher of the Year, Joe Wilson. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate:

That, by this resolution, the South Carolina Senate recognizes and congratulates Mr. Joe Wilson of Clearwater for being selected by the South Carolina Association of Agricultural Educators as the Agriculture Education Teacher of the Year.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mr. Joe Wilson.
