CONGRATULATING THE CARDINAL SOCCER TEAM OF CARDINAL NEWMAN HIGH SCHOOL OF RICHLAND COUNTY ON BECOMING 1999 SCISA CHAMPIONS IN BOYS SOCCER.
Whereas, the Cardinal soccer team of Cardinal Newman High School of Columbia in Richland County recently clinched the South Carolina Independent Schools Association (SCISA) state championship in boys soccer for 1999; and
Whereas, the Cardinals were trailing by a score of 2-0 in the last thirteen minutes of the state title match but charged back to win 3-2, scoring three goals in those crucial thirteen minutes; and
Whereas, the Cardinals were guided by Head Coach Kevin Graves and Assistant Coach Dennis Powell during the 1999 campaign; and
Whereas, the members of the Cardinal Newman High boys soccer team exhibited dedication, hard work, talent, and unity during their championship season and are highly deserving of recognition. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring:
That the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, congratulates the Cardinal soccer team of Cardinal Newman High School of Richland County on becoming 1999 SCISA champions in boys soccer.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the members and coaches of the Cardinal soccer team of Cardinal Newman High School.
