The House assembled at 10:00 A.M.
Deliberations were opened with prayer by the Chaplain of the House of Representatives, the Rev. Dr. Alton C. Clark, as follows:

Eternal Father, Who has loved Your children with an everlasting love, stay close to us during this week that so many of Your children in so many lands call this "Holy Week". Open our hearts that we may love You better; open our minds that we may know You better. Take us by the hand that we may see things from Your viewpoint that we may see them as they really are. So illumine our minds that our thoughts and our actions may merit Your blessings. Keep us in Your care and guide us in Your paths. Amen.
