Deliberations were opened with prayer by the Chaplain of the House of Representatives, the Rev. Dr. Alton C. Clark, as follows:

Eternal God, we pray that the inner quality of our hearts and the outer conduct of our lives may match the high challenge of the tasks committed to us. So teach us that we may be a part of the solution; never a part of the problem. Be with us throughout this day, hour after hour, minute by minute, to sustain us with wisdom and understanding. Guide us in the way of uprightness and truth. Give to us all health of body and mind, and peace of conscience at all times. Amen.

After corrections to the Journal of the proceedings of yesterday, the SPEAKER ordered it confirmed.

The following Bill was taken up, read the second time, and ordered to a third reading:

S. 897 (Word version) -- Senator Hutto: A BILL TO AMEND ACT 2 OF 1963 TO ALLOW MEMBERS OF THE BARNWELL SCHOOL DISTRICT 45 BOARD OF TRUSTEES IN BARNWELL COUNTY TO PROVIDE A STIPEND TO BOARD MEMBERS FOR SERVICES RENDERED.

On motion of Rep. RHOAD, with unanimous consent, it was ordered that S. 897 be read the third time tomorrow.

At 10:11 A. M. the House in accordance with H. 4237, the Sine Die Adjournment Resolution, adjourned to meet at 12:00 Noon in Statewide Session on Tuesday, June 22.
