The House assembled at 10:00 A.M.
Deliberations were opened with prayer by the Chaplain of the House of Representatives, the Rev. Dr. Alton C. Clark, as follows:

Almighty God, unto Whom men of all ages have lifted their prayers as incense, speak to us as we open our lives to Your searching gaze. In these days, help us to find peace and wisdom even in the midst of life's demands. Show us that the greatest contribution that we can make to the world is a good and upright life-strong, honest, trustworthy and serviceable. Help us to know You better, to walk more intimately with You and to pray more earnestly. May Your Kingdom come and be done on earth as it is done in Heaven. Amen.
