A SENATE RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE AND COMMEND SALLY G. FARRIS OF AIKEN COUNTY FOR HER OUTSTANDING AND DEDICATED SERVICE TO THE AIKEN COUNTY PUBLIC LIBRARY AND TO WISH HER GOOD HEALTH AND MUCH HAPPINESS IN HER RETIREMENT.

Whereas, Sally G. Farris has been a dedicated employee of the Aiken County Public Library since 1984, serving in various management positions, including reference librarian, library manager, and most recently, reference library department head; and

Whereas, she has made significant contributions to making the library the fine institution that it is, as well as to the residents of Aiken by making information available, accessible, and affordable for all people; and

Whereas, through the review and selection of thousands of books for the library and in developing numerous reading lists and book talks, as well as in providing helpful recommendations and a personal touch in serving patrons, Mrs. Farris has imparted her life-long love of reading and has enriched the lives of untold numbers of Aiken residents; and

Whereas, her annual Women's History Week Book Talk is a library highlight, and her long-standing interest in history is a great help to residents and visitors in finding information on local history and genealogy; and

Whereas, Mrs. Farris displays the greatest level of professionalism and competence and is held in the highest regard by her colleagues. Her extensive knowledge and expertise will be greatly missed by coworkers and library patrons as well; and

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina Senate are pleased to have the opportunity to recognize such an exemplary public servant. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate:

That the members of the South Carolina Senate, by this resolution, recognize and commend Sally G. Farris of Aiken County for her outstanding and dedicated service to the Aiken County Public Library and to wish her good health and much happiness in her retirement.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Sally G. Farris.
