TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 57-3-210 SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT THE DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION SHALL OBTAIN APPROVAL FROM A COUNTY'S LEGISLATIVE DELEGATION BEFORE THE DEPARTMENT CLOSES A BRIDGE FOR REPAIRS THAT WILL NOT BE COMPLETED WITHIN A FORTY-FIVE DAY PERIOD.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
SECTION 1. The 1976 Code is amended by adding:
"Section 57-3-210. Notwithstanding another provision of law, the Department of Transportation shall obtain approval from a majority of a county's legislative delegation before the department closes a bridge for repairs that will not be completed within a forty-five day period."
SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
