A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE AND HONOR EMILY GREYARD OF FORT MILL, A SENIOR AT FORT MILL HIGH SCHOOL, AS A RECIPIENT OF A PRUDENTIAL SPIRIT OF COMMUNITY AWARD AND RECOGNIZE HER OUTSTANDING RECORD OF VOLUNTEER SERVICE, PEER LEADERSHIP, AND COMMUNITY SPIRIT.

Whereas, Emily Greyard of Fort Mill, a senior at Fort Mill High School has achieved national recognition for exemplary volunteer service by receiving a 2001 Prudential Spirit of Community Award; and

Whereas, this prestigious award, presented by the Prudential Insurance Company of America in partnership with the National Association of Secondary School Principals, honors young volunteers across America who have demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to serving their communities; and

Whereas, she earned this award by giving generously of her time and energy to develop an anti-violence education program that pairs elementary and middle school students with high school students to help empower all students to create a safe school environment; and

Whereas, the success of the State of South Carolina, the strength of our communities, and the overall vitality for American society depend, in great measure, upon the dedication of young people like Emily Greyard who use their considerable talents and resources to serve others. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the House of Representatives, by this resolution, congratulate and honor Emily Greyard of Fort Mill, a senior at Fort Mill High School, as a recipient of a Prudential Spirit of Community Award and recognize her outstanding record of volunteer service, peer leadership, and community spirit.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Emily Greyard.
