TO AMEND SECTION 50-11-310, AS AMENDED, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO OPEN SEASON FOR ANTLERED DEER SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT ON ALL WILDLIFE MANAGEMENT AREA LANDS IN GAME ZONE 4, BAITING OR HUNTING OVER A BAITED AREA IS PROHIBITED, AND TO PROVIDE THAT IN GAME ZONE 4, EXCEPT FOR DEER, BIG GAME, AND FERAL HOGS CANNOT BE BAITED OR HUNTED OVER BAIT.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
SECTION 1. Section 50-11-310 of the 1976 Code, as last amended by Act 387 of 2000, is further amended by adding:
"(F) Notwithstanding any other provision of law, on all Wildlife Management Area lands in Game Zone 4, baiting or hunting over a baited area is prohibited. On all other lands in Game Zone 4, except for deer, big game, and feral hogs cannot be baited or hunted over bait. As used in this subsection 'bait' or 'baiting' means the placing, depositing, exposing, distributing, or scattering of shelled, shucked or unshucked corn, wheat or other grain or other food stuffs to constitute an attraction, lure, or enticement to, on, or over any area. 'Baited area' means an area where bait is directly or indirectly placed, deposited, exposed, distributed, or scattered. The area remains a baited area for ten days following complete removal of bait."
SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
