A BILL

TO AMEND SECTION 20-7-420, AS AMENDED, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO FAMILY COURT JURISDICTION, SO AS TO PROVIDE THE COURT HAS AUTHORITY TO ASSESS REASONABLE COURT COSTS WHEN A PERSON IS CHARGED WITH THE FAILURE TO OBEY A COURT ORDER.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION    1.    Section 20-7-420(13) of the 1976 Code is amended to read:

    "(13)    In all cases or proceedings within the county against persons charged with failure to obey an order of the court made pursuant to authority conferred by law and in such cases or proceedings to assess reasonable court costs."

SECTION    2.    This act takes effect July 1, 2001.
