TO COMMEND USC - AIKEN, ITS FACULTY, STAFF, STUDENTS, ORGANIZERS, AND SUPPORTERS FOR ITS MANY CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE STATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA AND THE CITIZENS OF OUR STATE ON THE OCCASION OF ITS FORTIETH ANNIVERSARY.
Whereas, the USC - Aiken was founded in 1961 by the Aiken County Commission on Higher Education under authority granted by the South Carolina General Assembly; and
Whereas, this founding grew from a spirit of partnership between USC - Aiken and the people of Aiken County and the surrounding region; and
Whereas, due to this partnership USC - Aiken has grown and developed into a nationally recognized institution endeavoring to prepare students with the knowledge and skills necessary for success in a rapidly changing society and evolving global economy; and
Whereas, on September 10, 2001, the students, faculty, staff, alumni, and supporters of USC - Aiken will celebrate the institution's fortieth anniversary; and
Whereas, the members of the General Assembly, by this resolution, wish to acknowledge the many contributions of USC - Aiken to the educational well-being of the State of South Carolina and its present and future students. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That the members of the General Assembly hereby commend USC - Aiken, the Aiken County Commission for Higher Education, the faculty, staff, students, organizers, and supporters of USC - Aiken for its many contributions to the State of South Carolina and the citizens of our State on the occasion of its fortieth anniversary.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the Chancellor of USC - Aiken.
