TO COMMEND THE CHAPIN HIGH SCHOOL "FIGHTING EAGLES" BOYS BASEBALL TEAM ON ITS TREMENDOUS SEASON OF SPIRITED COMPETITION AND TO CONGRATULATE THE PLAYERS AND COACHES ON WINNING THE 2001 CLASS AA STATE BASEBALL CHAMPIONSHIP.
Whereas, the 2001 Chapin High School "Fighting Eagles" boys baseball team, led by Coach Scott McCleod, put together the right combination of skill, hard work, and determination to win the 2001 Class AA State Championship, sweeping the best of three series from Loris; and
Whereas, the Chapin High School baseball team ended the season with an astounding record of twenty-five wins and seven losses; and
Whereas, pitcher Ryan Slice improved his record on the mound to twelve and two as he pitched five strong innings in the championship game. Relief pitcher, Chase Edwards, closed the door, giving the Eagles their first championship season since 1996; and
Whereas, Coach McCleod expressed pride in every member of the team, stating they had worked hard all season and deserved the victory; and
Whereas, the member of the House of Representatives recognize the long hours of practice, dedication, and skill involved in competing in a varsity team sport such as baseball and are proud of the efforts put forth by each member of the team to achieve their championship goal. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives commend the Chapin High School "Fighting Eagles" boys baseball team on its tremendous season of spirited competition and congratulate the players and coaches on winning the 2001 AA State Baseball Championship.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Coach Scott McCleod, on behalf of the "Fighting Eagles" boys baseball team of Chapin High School.
