A BILL

TO AMEND 23-6-300, AS AMENDED, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO THE CREATION, FUNCTIONS, DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY'S MOTOR VEHICLE DIVISION, SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT THE MOTOR VEHICLE DIVISION MAY OFFER DRIVER'S LICENSE RENEWAL, MOTOR VEHICLE REGISTRATION, AND MOTOR VEHICLE TITLING SERVICES THROUGH ITS INTERNET WEBSITE.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION    1.    Section 23-6-300 of the 1976 Code, as last amended by Act 459 of 1996, is further amended to read:

    "Section 23-6-300.    (A)    There is created a Motor Vehicle Division within the department. The division shall be is responsible for all of those functions, duties, and responsibilities previously exercised by and/or or operating under the Division of Motor Vehicles of the South Carolina Department of Highways and Public Transportation, or both.

    (B)    The Motor Vehicle Division may offer driver's license renewal, motor vehicle registration, and motor vehicle titling services through its Internet website."

SECTION    2.    This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
