A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO EXPRESS THE SENSE OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY THAT BENEDICT P. (DICK) ROSEN, A DISTINGUISHED SOUTH CAROLINA BUSINESS AND CIVIC LEADER, WOULD MAKE AN OUTSTANDING MEMBER OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE YAWKEY FOUNDATION AND TO RECOMMEND HIM TO THE YAWKEY FOUNDATION BOARD OF TRUSTEES AS IT INCREASES THE MEMBERSHIP OF THE BOARD.

Whereas, Benedict P. (Dick) Rosen of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, is Chairman of the Board of AVX Corporation; and

Whereas, Dick Rosen is an influential international corporate leader in the technology industry and is a distinguished local and state community leader; and

Whereas, while Mr. Rosen has spent most of his professional career traveling the world on behalf of AVX, he has made time to be active in serving on local and state advisory councils and philanthropic boards; and

Whereas, he has a personal connection with the City of Boston and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, having received his Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology; and

Whereas, Dick Rosen without question would make an excellent member of the Board of Trustees of the Yawkey Foundation. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, expresses the belief that Benedict P. (Dick) Rosen, a distinguished South Carolina business and civic leader, would make an outstanding member of the Board of Trustees of the Yawkey Foundation, and recommend him to the Yawkey Foundation Board of Trustees as it increases the membership of the board.

Be it further resolved that copies of this resolution be forwarded to the Yawkey Foundation Board of Trustees, 990 Washington Street, Dedham, MA 02026, and Mr. Benedict P. Rosen, P.O. Box 867, Myrtle Beach, SC 29578.
