TO COMMEND AND CONGRATULATE SILVER BLUFF HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL COACH AL LOWN FOR BACK-TO-BACK UNDEFEATED STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS IN 2000 AND 2001 AND FOR BEING NAMED THE COACH OF THE YEAR BY THE SOUTH CAROLINA ATHLETIC COACHES ASSOCIATION.
Whereas, for a coach like Al Lown to accomplish such outstanding achievements exemplifies his dedication and abilities as Head Football Coach at Silver Bluff High School of Aiken County; and
Whereas, Coach Lown has been the Head Football Coach of the Silver Bluff "Bull Dogs" for the past nine years, and under his leadership, the team has won thirty straight games and forty-three of their last forty-four games; and
Whereas, Coach Lown led the "Bulldogs" to consecutive undefeated State Championships for the past two seasons; and
Whereas, in the 2000 State Football Championship, Silver Bluff defeated Abbeville High School 28-21, and in December of 2001, the Bulldogs prevailed over Batesburg-Leesville High School 21-20 for their second successive State Championship; and
Whereas, Coach Lown humbly attributes his successes to the hard work and support of those around him, including assistant coaches, staff, and players; and
Whereas, Coach Lown will be honored during the South Carolina Athletic Coaches Association's tenth annual awards banquet, July 28, 2002, at the North Charleston Convention Center; and
Whereas, the General Assembly is pleased to recognize and commend Al Lown, Head Football Coach for the Silver Bluff "Bulldogs" Football Team and South Carolina Coach of the Year, upon the conclusion of a truly memorable season and wishes him much success in his future endeavors. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the House of Representatives of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, commend and congratulate Silver Bluff High School Football Coach Al Lown for back-to-back undefeated State Championships in 2000 and 2001 and for being named the Coach of the Year by the South Carolina Athletic Coaches Association.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Coach Al Lown.
