A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE THE CHAPIN HIGH SCHOOL EAGLES BASEBALL TEAM UPON WINNING THE 2002 SOUTH CAROLINA CLASS AA STATE BASEBALL CHAMPIONSHIP AND TO COMMEND THE PLAYERS, COACHES, AND STAFF FOR THEIR COMMITMENT TO EXCELLENCE AND FOR THEIR OUTSTANDING ACCOMPLISHMENT.

Whereas, the Chapin High School Eagles Baseball Team won the 2002 South Carolina Class AA State Championship on Friday, May 17, 2002, defeating Cheraw in two games of playoff competition; and

Whereas, the "Eagles" won-loss record was an impressive 26 wins and 6 losses for the 2002 season; undefeated at home; and victorious in their last 16 games, with no losses in playoff competition; and

Whereas, this state championship is the second consecutive State Class AA Baseball Championship for the Chapin High School Eagles; and

Whereas, Chapin High School maintains a proud tradition of excellence in athletics, academics, and leadership; and

Whereas, in their quest to retain the Class AA State Championship, the Eagles worked hard all season, committed themselves to achieving victory, and focused on strong defense, hitting, and pitching; and

Whereas, the Chapin High School 2002 State Baseball Championship Team is composed of twenty talented student-athletes, namely, Matt Bray, Matt Carter, Cory Cato, Jay Darden, Nick Dull, Chase Edwards, Ian Gohean, Tommy Hines, Hunter Howe, Jeff Jacobs, Jamie Mack, Malcolm McLeod, Parker Mclvin, Brandon Perry, Alex Rhodes, Shea Rodgers, Edwin Roe, Derrick Swindall, Devin Swindall, and Boomer Wright; and

Whereas, under the highly capable leadership of Head Baseball Coach Scott McLeod, Assistant Coaches, Jody Haltiwanger, Randy Johnson, and Tony Mims, Athletic Director, Eddie Muldrow, and Trainer Fred Williams, the Chapin High School Eagles complied an impressive winning record of accomplishment during the 2002 season; and

Whereas, the; members of the House of Representatives, wish to publicly recognize and congratulate the Chapin High School Eagles Baseball Team upon winning the 2002 South Carolina Class AA State Baseball Championship. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the House of Representatives, by this resolution, congratulate the Chapin High School Eagles Baseball Team on winning the 2002 South Carolina Class AA State Baseball Championship, and commend the players, coaches, and staff for their commitment to excellence and for their outstanding accomplishment.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Head Coach Scott McLeod on behalf of the 2002 Chapin High School Baseball Team.
