A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO COMMEND AND CONGRATULATE THE PLAYERS, COACHES, AND STAFF OF THE SILVER BLUFF HIGH SCHOOL VARSITY SOFTBALL TEAM IN AIKEN FOR THEIR OUTSTANDING SEASON AND THEIR EXCITING 2002 CLASS AA STATE CHAMPIONSHIP WIN, AND TO WISH THEM MUCH ATHLETIC AND ACADEMIC SUCCESS IN THEIR FUTURE ENDEAVORS.

Whereas, the Silver Bluff High School Softball Team defeated Crescent High School of Anderson in the third game of the series on May 17, 2002, for the Class AA State Championship Title; and

Whereas, this 2002 state title marks the first Softball State Championship in Silver Bluff High School history; and

Whereas, Silver Bluff won the first game of the three game championship series, but Crescent gained confidence in the second game on their home turf by winning two to one. The Lady Bulldogs showed their strength and determination in the third game, which they won four to zero; and

Whereas, during the state championship series, the Lady Bulldogs committed just one error and gave up only two runs; and

Whereas, Bridget Loudermilk proved her pitching ability throughout the season with twenty-eight wins and four losses, pitching four perfect games and three no-hitters. She boasts eighteen shut-outs including two in the state championship series and in two years has never lost a game at home; and

Whereas, the Silver Bluff Lady Bulldogs finished their excellent season with thirty-one wins and only four losses and also won the regional championship; and

Whereas, the House of Representatives is pleased to recognize such an outstanding group of young women, coaches, and staff of the Silver Bluff High School Softball Team on the occasion of their 2002 Class AA State Championship win. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the House of Representatives of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, commend and congratulate the players, coaches, and staff of the Silver Bluff High School Varsity Softball Team in Aiken for their outstanding season and their exciting 2002 Class AA State Championship win and wish them much athletic and academic success in their future endeavors.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Silver Bluff High School in Aiken.
