A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO COMMEND AND CONGRATULATE THE PLAYERS, COACHES, AND STAFF OF J. L. MANN "PATRIOTS" GIRLS TRACK TEAM ON THEIR OUTSTANDING SEASON AND THEIR 2002 AAA STATE TRACK CHAMPIONSHIP AND TO WISH THEM MUCH ATHLETIC AND ACADEMIC SUCCESS IN THE FUTURE.

Whereas, the J. L. Mann "Patriots" Girls Track Team defeated tough competition at the state track and field meet held at Spring Valley High School on May 11, 2002, to claim a AAA State Championship for the first time; and

Whereas, this team of outstanding athletes had fifteen team members either qualifying or placing in the track and field meet; and

Whereas, this team is composed of Arionne Allen, Sarah Andrews, Ashley Bruster, Amber Camp, Aundraya Camp, Jerica Cecile, Chicola Floyd, Leigh Gray, Jessica Knight, Kajule Leggett, Brandy Mangum, Amberly Nesbitt, Kim Powers, Janet Quiles, Trevonne Williams, Kamieka Killingsworth, and Dannika Cleveland; and

Whereas, this talented Patriots team finished the meet with eighty-five points, easily outdistancing second place Dreher High School, which had sixty-two; and

Whereas, J. L Mann had three individual champions, Amberly Nesbitt, who repeated as titlist in the 100-meter dash; Arionne Allen, who placed first in the 400-meters; and Jerica Cecile, who won the long jump; and

Whereas, Head Coach Rhett Moss, and coaches Bill Lynn and Clarence Lewis are to be commended for their hard work and dedication to this fine team of girl athletes; and

Whereas, the members of the House of Representatives are honored and pleased to pause in their deliberations to recognize this team's outstanding accomplishments. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, commend and congratulate the players, coaches, and staff of J. L. Mann "Patriots" Girls Track Team on their outstanding season and their 2002 AAA State Track Championship and to wish them much athletic and academic success in the future.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to the J. L. Mann High School Girls Track Team.
