A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO COMMEND AND CONGRATULATE DR. LINWOOD BRADFORD OF SUMTER FOR RECEIVING THE 2002 SOUTH CAROLINA DERMATOLOGIST OF THE YEAR AWARD.

Whereas, the members of the House of Representatives are pleased to learn that Dr. Linwood Bradford has been named South Carolina Dermatologist of the Year; and

Whereas, Dr. Bradford was born in Sumter County and, after graduating from Edmunds High School, attended Wofford College and the Medical University of South Carolina; and

Whereas, it was during an internship in internal medicine at the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond that Dr. Bradford met his wife, Shellie; and

Whereas, Dr. Bradford served two years in the United States Army as a company commander in Korea and as a brigade surgeon at Fort Jackson; and

Whereas, in the three years he was training in the field of dermatology at the Medical University of Alabama, Dr. Bradford was named chief resident his final year; and

Whereas, Linwood Bradford returned to Sumter to open his practice in 1971. During the past thirty-one years, he has treated thousands of patients, always reminding them to protect their skin against the harmful effects of the sun; and

Whereas, Dr. Bradford has a wonderful bedside manner and quick wit, and sees everything from skin growths and blisters to scaling scalps and birthmarks, in addition to ailments, eczema and teen acne; and

Whereas, Dr. Bradford belongs to the Christian Medical and Dental Society, the state Medical Association, and the state Dermatological Association; and

Whereas, he enjoys photography, model railroading, and gardening, and he and his wife, Shellie, have five children; and

Whereas, the members of the House of Representatives are pleased to recognize Dr. Linwood Bradford for his recent award and for his outstanding contributions to the field of dermatology. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the House of Representatives of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, commend and congratulate Dr. Linwood Bradford of Sumter for receiving the 2002 South Carolina Dermatologist of the Year.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Dr. Bradford.
