TO EXPRESS THE PROFOUND SORROW OF THE MEMBERS OF THE SENATE TO THE FAMILY AND MANY FRIENDS OF HOUSTON CRAWFORD OF LAURENS COUNTY UPON HIS DEATH AND TO EXTEND THEIR DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO HIS FAMILY AND FRIENDS.
Whereas, the members of the Senate were deeply saddened to learn of the recent death of Houston Crawford, a lifelong resident of Laurens County; and
Whereas, Houston Crawford served the United States of America with bravery and distinction during World War II; and
Whereas, Houston Crawford earned the Order of the Purple Heart for Military Merit for his sacrifice for his country in the United States Military; and
Whereas, he also served Laurens County for many years as a law enforcement officer with the Laurens County Sheriff's Department; and
Whereas, his career with Laurens County culminated with distinguished service as Chief Deputy Sheriff; and
Whereas, Houston Crawford served God and his church as a faithful deacon, Sunday school teacher, and member of numerous committees of the Poplar Springs Baptist Church; and
Whereas, with the death of this dedicated veteran and generous public servant, the people of Laurens County, his family and friends have lost an integral and much admired member of their community; and
Whereas, the members of the Senate, by this resolution, would like to extend their deepest sympathy and heartfelt condolences to his wife, Teressa; his children, Rachel, Larry, Carol and Jean; and other family and friends upon their loss. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate:
That the members of the Senate hereby express their deepest sympathy to the family and many friends of Houston Crawford of Laurens County, one of the most dedicated leaders in his community, upon his death.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the family of Houston Crawford.
