A BILL

TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 59-1-465 SO AS TO PROHIBIT A PUBLIC INSTITUTION OF HIGHER LEARNING, A PUBLIC SCHOOL, OR A SCHOOL DISTRICT FROM USING "SEXUAL ORIENTATION" AS A CATEGORY IN ITS ANTI-DISCRIMINATION POLICY.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION 1. The 1976 Code is amended by adding:

"Section 59-1-465. Notwithstanding any other provision of law, no public institution of higher learning, as defined in Section 59-103-5, public school, as defined in Section 59-1-120, or school district, as defined in Section 59-1-160 may use 'sexual orientation' as a category in its anti-discrimination policy."

SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
