A SENATE RESOLUTION

EXPRESSING THE DEEP APPRECIATION OF THE STATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA TO THE REVEREND GENERAL BRITT OF DORCHESTER COUNTY FOR HIS LIFETIME OF SERVICE TO HIS COMMUNITY AND TO HIS CHURCH AND FOR HIS LOYALTY TO HIS EMPLOYER AS HE RETIRES AFTER TWENTY YEARS FROM THE GIFFORD HILL CEMENT PLANT IN HOLLY HILL.

Whereas, the Reverend General Britt of Dorchester County has retired after twenty years of service to the Gifford Hill Cement Plant in Holly Hill; and

Whereas, his "retirement" leaves him more time to dedicate to his church and his community; and

Whereas, he is a member and Pastor of St. Mark Baptist Church, after serving as pastor to a number of churches in the Pregnall, Dorange, and Texas communities since he entered the ministry at age forty; and

Whereas, the Reverend Britt has contributed over the years as a member of Bright Star Lodge #50 in the Texas Community; President of the Lovely Hill Congress of Christian Education for twelve years; the Vice President of the Upper Dorchester County NAACP, St. George Branch; and member of the Ministerial Alliance and Dorchester County Water and Sewer Commission; and

Whereas, this community and spiritual leader is married to the former Susie Queen Britt, and they have three children: Reginald (Angela), Breanna (Stevie), and Kelvin (Caprice): and five grandchildren: Steven, Devin, Nicholas, Sydney, and Bradley. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate:

That the members of the South Carolina Senate, by this resolution, and the State of South Carolina express deep appreciation to the Reverend General Britt of Dorchester County for his lifetime of service to his community and to his church and for his loyalty to his employer as he retires after twenty years from the Gifford Hill Cement Plant in Holly Hill.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to the Reverend General Britt.
