VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
TO CONGRATULATE THE MEMBERS OF THE LAMAR HIGH SCHOOL VARSITY FOOTBALL TEAM AND HEAD COACH J. R. BOYD AND HIS COACHING STAFF ON WINNING THEIR SECOND CLASS A CHAMPIONSHIP, TO COMMEND THEM FOR THEIR EXTRAORDINARY DEDICATION, DETERMINATION, AND HARD WORK THROUGHOUT THE 2003 SEASON THAT ENABLED THEM TO CAPTURE THE 2003 CLASS A CHAMPIONSHIP AT WILLIAMS-BRICE STADIUM, AND TO WISH THEM EVERY SUCCESS IN ALL OF THEIR ACADEMIC, ATHLETIC, AND FUTURE ENDEAVORS.
Whereas, the game of football affords young people the opportunity to learn the importance of dedication and teamwork while developing athletic talents; and
Whereas, becoming a champion in this sport requires every member of the team and coaching staff to have special leadership skills and physical prowess, as well as a finely honed ability to communicate effectively on the field; and
Whereas, using these talents with drive and determination, along with countless hours of hard work, the members of the Silver Foxes Varsity Football Team had an outstanding season; and
Whereas, with an exceptional performance from a top-notch team and the superb coaching of Head Coach J. R. Boyd and his staff, the Lamar High School Varsity Football Team finished the 2003 season with an exceptional 14-1 record, and emerged victorious as the Class A State Champion by defeating Lake View High School on Saturday, December 6, 2003, with a score of 18-13; and
Whereas, with the magnificent season and outstanding victory the 2003 Lamar High School Varsity Football Team defended its 2002 Class A State Championship; and
Whereas, it is with great pride and immense pleasure that we recognize the physical and mental abilities of these young South Carolinians and hope that they will use those skills both on and off the football field in their future endeavors. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate:
That the members of the Senate, by this resolution, congratulate the members of the Lamar High School Varsity Football Team and Head Coach J. R. Boyd and his coaching staff on winning their second Class A Championship, commend them for their extraordinary dedication, determination, and hard work throughout the 2003 season that enabled them to capture the 2003 Class A Championship at Williams-Brice Stadium, and wish them every success in all of their academic, athletic, and future endeavors.
