A HOUSE RESOLUTION

RECOGNIZING BECTON DICKINSON VACUTAINER SYSTEMS PREANALYTICAL SOLUTIONS, LOCATED IN SUMTER COUNTY, AS THE WINNER IN THE FIRST MANUFACTURER OF THE YEAR COMPETITION SPONSORED BY THE GREATER SUMTER CHAMBER OF COMMERCE.

Whereas, the Greater Sumter Chamber of Commerce sponsored its first competition among local manufacturers for the 2002 Manufacturer of the Year; and

Whereas, the Industrial Appreciation Committee selected Becton Dickinson Vacutainer Systems Preanalytical Solutions as the area's large manufacturer best exemplifying excellence in the committee's selection criteria: economic impact, commitment to workforce, and contributions to the community; and

Whereas, Becton Dickinson, a medical technology company making and selling medical devices and supplies, has expanded its impact on the Greater Sumter area from twenty-five employees in 1971 to more than seven hundred fifty today, with a twenty-seven million dollar annual payroll and investments in the area in the past three years of more than fifty-two million dollars; and

Whereas, Becton Dickinson's visionary personnel policies recognize its employees for their public service and charitable works and bends over backwards to support military reservists. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the House of Representatives of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, recognize Becton Dickinson Vacutainer Systems Preanalytical Solutions, located in Sumter County, as the winner in the First Manufacturer of the Year competition sponsored by the Greater Sumter Chamber of Commerce.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Becton Dickinson Vacutainer Systems Preanalytical Solutions.
