A HOUSE RESOLUTION

APPLAUDING SUMTER PACKAGING CORPORATION, THE 2002 SMALL MANUFACTURER OF THE YEAR AS SELECTED BY THE GREATER SUMTER AREA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE, AND RECOGNIZING ITS EMPHASIS ON HAPPY, HEALTHY EMPLOYEES.

Whereas, Sumter Packaging Corporation is a full-service packaging provider that relocated to Sumter in 1981 from Illinois; and

Whereas, its one hundred employees specialize in producing cardboard boxes and displays of all shapes and sizes for customers throughout the southeast; and

Whereas, the production takes place in a tobacco-free, air-conditioned, ergonomically modified, and safe work environment; and

Whereas, the work force also enjoys a one thousand dollar reward for smoking cessation for a year, an in-house Cardio Club and free health screenings, and an educational assistance program focused on overcoming daily obstacles; and

Whereas, this happy and healthy work force is the hallmark of the success of Sumter Packaging Corporation, as identified by the Industrial Appreciation Committee. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the House of Representatives of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, applaud Sumter Packaging Corporation, the 2002 Small Manufacturer of the Year as selected by the Greater Sumter Area Chamber of Commerce, and recognizing its emphasis on happy, healthy employees.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Sumter Packaging Corporation.
