A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE AND COMMEND DR. C. MORRISON FARISH OF DARLINGTON COUNTY FOR OVER TWENTY YEARS OF DEDICATION TO PEDIATRIC MEDICINE IN THE STATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA AND TO WISH HIM MUCH SUCCESS AND HAPPINESS AS HE CONTINUES TO PROVIDE MEDICAL CARE TO CHILDREN IN THE PEE DEE AREA.

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina General Assembly are pleased to recognize Dr. Morrison Farish of Darlington County for his lifetime of commitment to the care of children; and

Whereas, Dr. Farish was born in Columbia in 1946, graduated from Ann Arbor High School in Michigan in three years, and earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Bacteriology and Masters Degree in Public Health from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill; and

Whereas, he received his medical degree from the Medical University of South Carolina in 1974 and completed his internship there in 1975; and

Whereas, after completing a two-year residency at Oklahoma Children's Hospital in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Dr. Farish became Board Certified in Pediatrics in June of 1979; and

Whereas, returning to his native South Carolina, Dr. Farish joined a medical group whose pediatric practice he would later buy out to establish his own office. He began the practice with only 200 patients and soon recruited Dr. Richard F. Davis of California to join him in concentrating on providing medical care to children; and

Whereas, the practice flourished, becoming known as Eastern Carolina Pediatric Associates in the 1990s, and growing to include four additional pediatricians and a pediatric nurse practitioner; and

Whereas, Eastern Carolina Pediatric Associates, under his loving leadership is now home to over 30,000 patients from nine counties; and

Whereas, Dr. Farish has never hesitated to contribute selflessly to his profession and his community; and

Whereas, he is a frequent lecturer and writer on pediatric issues as well as handgun safety, is an active member in numerous professional associations including the Academy of Pediatrics, the American College of Sports Medicine, and the South Carolina Medical Association; and

Whereas, he served as President of the South Carolina Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics from 1998 to 2000, was the Team Physician for the University of Oklahoma football team, St. John's High School football team, and American Legion Baseball, serves as President of the Private Pediatric Practice, and as an outstanding Assistant Scout Master to Boy Scout Troop 504; and

Whereas, the devoted husband of over thirty years to wife Luanne, his dedication to children and loving nature serve him well as father to twin sons Cameron and Geoffrey and daughter Amanda and grandfather of two with one on the way; and

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina General Assembly are proud to recognize Dr. Morrison Farish for his professional excellence, dedication, and service to children. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the South Carolina General Assembly recognize and commend Dr. C. Morrison Farish of Darlington for over twenty years of dedication to pediatric medicine in the State of South Carolina and wish him much success and happiness as he continues to provide medical care to children in the Pee Dee area.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Dr. C. Morrison Farish of Darlington.
