A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO COMMEND AND CONGRATULATE THE CHRIST CHURCH EPISCOPAL SCHOOL BOYS VARSITY GOLF TEAM AND COACH R. J. BEACH ON WINNING THEIR SIXTH CLASS A STATE GOLF CHAMPIONSHIP IN NINE YEARS AND TO WISH THEM CONTINUED SUCCESS BOTH ATHLETICALLY AND IN ALL THEIR FUTURE ENDEAVORS.

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives are proud to recognize the Christ Church Episcopal School Boys Varsity Golf Team on winning the 2004 Class A State Championship held at Star Fort National Golf Club in Ninety-six on May 3 and 4, 2004; and

Whereas, on its way back to the state championship game hoping to achieve a chance to repeat their 2003 victory, the team won the Region Championship held on April 27 and 28, 2004. Sean Evins was the individual champion and, along with Sean, Ward Williams and Lee Grandy were selected to the All-Region team; and

Whereas, Coach R. J. Beach, having been honored just last year as the South Carolina Coaches Association State Coach of the Year, was again named Region Coach of the Year for the ninth consecutive year; and

Whereas, this highly impressive golf team won the state championship by an incredible 47 strokes by shooting a two-day total of 617 achieving their second state championship title in a row and their sixth title in the last nine years; and

Whereas, Christ Church Episcopal School has built a long-standing tradition of excellence in golf with this latest win being its eighth in the school's history, giving it the second best total in the State; and

Whereas, all five players competing in the tournament were placed on the All-State team: Seniors Frank Wrenn, Sean Evins, and Ward Williams; Junior Chris Siler; and Freshman Lee Grandy. Other members of this year's golf team are: Junior Hall Provence, Sophomore Robert Daniels, and Freshman Todd Rishel; and

Whereas, Frank Wrenn won the individual title by twelve strokes, his state record tying third individual title. He was also selected to the North team for the South Carolina Senior All-Star Cup matches; and

Whereas, the South Carolina House of Representatives is pleased to pause to again recognize the Christ Church Episcopal School Boys Varsity Golf Team for its perseverance and determination as it continues to build on its athletic success. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the House of Representatives of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, commend and congratulate the Christ Church Episcopal School Boys Varsity Golf Team and Head Coach R. J. Beach on winning their sixth Class A State Golf Championship in nine years and wish them continued success both athletically and in all their future endeavors.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Coach R. J. Beach.
