TO CELEBRATE THE ACCOMPLISHMENTS OF DR. HERBERT BAILEY, JR., PASTOR OF RIGHT DIRECTION CHRISTIAN CENTER IN COLUMBIA, SOUTH CAROLINA, AND TO EXPRESS APPRECIATION FOR HIS LEADERSHIP, GUIDANCE, AND DEDICATION.
Whereas, Herbert Bailey, Jr., received his ministerial license in the Full Gospel Church of Faith, Jersey City, New Jersey; ordinations at Universal Temple Churches of God, Brooklyn, New York, in October 1980; Church of God in Christ, Portland, Maine, in March 1989 and Sanctuary Evangelistic Church, Tulsa, Oklahoma, in March 1994; and
Whereas, Pastor Bailey has received a Doctor of Divinity from St. Thomas Christian College in Jacksonville, Florida; a Master's Degree in the Public Administration Program of Rutgers University, Newark, New Jersey; and a B.S. Degree in Sociology from Upsala College in East Orange, New Jersey; and
Whereas, as an ordained minister, Pastor Bailey served in numerous ministerial capacities in New Jersey, New York, Maine; and
Whereas, Right Direction Christian Center (RDCC) was founded in the heart of Pastor Herbert Bailey, Jr., in July of 1995 when he visited Columbia to interview for a corporate management position. He was offered the corporate position and relocated to Columbia for the purpose of founding Right Direction Christian Center; and
Whereas, in addition to his pastoral involvement, Pastor Bailey has dedicated his time and abilities to serving his community causing him to be the recipient of the Maine Association of Black Professionals Community Service Award and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Community Service Award, Jersey City, New Jersey, and to be named an Outstanding Young Man of America; and to become author of "Headed in the Right Direction"; and
Whereas, Pastor Bailey's family is second only to God. He is married to Co-Pastor Marcia L. Bailey and is the loving father of Chandler, Tyler, Daniel, and Kindra; and
Whereas, as a shepherd, mentor confidante, teacher, visionary and author, Pastor Herbert Bailey, Jr., is truly a unique individual who gives selflessly of his spiritual, emotional and natural talents without compromising the Word of God, and for this he deserves much recognition. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives celebrate the accomplishments of Dr. Herbert Bailey, Jr., Pastor of Right Direction Christian Center in Columbia, South Carolina and express appreciation for his leadership, guidance, and dedication.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Dr. Herbert Bailey, Jr.
