A SENATE RESOLUTION

TO EXPRESS THE PROFOUND SORROW OF THE MEMBERS OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA SENATE UPON LEARNING OF THE DEATH OF MRS. MURREL WEEKS PATTERSON OF WARRENVILLE, SOUTH CAROLINA, IN AIKEN COUNTY AND TO EXTEND DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO HER FAMILY AND MANY FRIENDS.

Whereas, the members of the Senate were deeply saddened upon learning of the death of Mrs. Murrel Weeks Patterson of Warrenville who died on Wednesday, April 30, 2003; and

Whereas, Mrs. Patterson was born in Langley, South Carolina, the daughter of the late William Gordon and Barbara DeLoach Weeks; and

Whereas, she was the loving wife of the late Mr. Ernest Spann "Pat" Patterson; the devoted mother of Barbara Nuessle of Aiken; and of her late son Dwight Gordon Patterson; and the beloved grandmother of Patterson Nuessle of Aiken and Cameron Nuessle of Appleton, Wisconsin; and

Whereas, Mrs. Patterson was committed to improving the Aiken County School System and was dedicated in her twenty years of service to the district; and

Whereas, she was a loyal member of the Langley United Methodist Church, faithfully serving the congregation as a Sunday School teacher, a choir member, and in the United Methodist Women's Guild; and

Whereas, Mrs. Patterson was also a member of the Triple "L" Senior Citizens' Club, a member of Young at Heart, a member of the Balanter Chapter of the Eastern Star, and a former state page; and

Whereas, she was a dear, beloved friend, greatly admired and respected by all who knew her, and she will be deeply missed. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate:

That the members of the South Carolina Senate, by this resolution, express profound sorrow upon learning of the death of Mrs. Murrel Weeks Patterson of Warrenville, South Carolina, in Aiken County and extend deepest sympathy to her family and many friends.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the family of Mrs. Murrel Weeks Patterson.
