A SENATE RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE GORDON CASE STIGLBAUER OF HAND MIDDLE SCHOOL IN COLUMBIA AS A RECIPIENT OF A 2004 PRUDENTIAL SPIRIT OF COMMUNITY AWARD, TO RECOGNIZE HIS OUTSTANDING RECORD OF VOLUNTEER SERVICE, PEER LEADERSHIP, AND COMMUNITY SPIRIT, AND TO EXTEND BEST WISHES FOR HIS CONTINUED SUCCESS AND HAPPINESS.

Whereas, Gordon Case Stiglbauer, an esteemed resident of Columbia and a student at Hand Middle School, has achieved national recognition for exemplary volunteer service by receiving a 2004 Prudential Spirit of Community Award; and

Whereas, this prestigious award, presented by Prudential Financial in partnership with the National Association of Secondary School Principals, honors young volunteers across America who have demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to serving their communities; and

Whereas, Mr. Stiglbauer earned this award by giving generously of his time and energy by teaching computer technology classes to children and adults from 3 to 90 years old at a community technology center; and

Whereas, Mr. Stiglbauer works primarily with younger students on weekends and at summer technology camps, teaching them the basics of computers and various software programs used in schools; and

Whereas, Mr. Stiglbauer also participates in team-building exercises, recruits volunteers, and serves as a positive role model for young children; and

Whereas, the success of the State of South Carolina, the strength of our communities, and the overall vitality of American society depend, in great measure, upon the dedication of young people like Mr. Stiglbauer who use their considerable talents and resources to serve others; and

Whereas, the members of the Senate are pleased to have this opportunity to recognize Gordon Case Stiglbauer for his accomplishments which have contributed immeasurably to the children and future of South Carolina. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate:

That the members of the Senate, by this resolution, congratulate Gordon Case Stiglbauer of Hand Middle School as a recipient of a 2004 Prudential Spirit of Community Award, recognize his outstanding record of volunteer service, peer leadership, and community spirit, and extend their best wishes for his continued success and happiness.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mr. Gordon Case Stiglbauer.
