A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO EXPRESS THE PROFOUND SORROW OF THE MEMBERS OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES UPON LEARNING OF THE DEATH OF MR. JERRY BRADSHAW OF MANNING AND TO EXTEND DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO HIS FAMILY AND MANY FRIENDS.

Whereas, the members of the House of Representatives were deeply saddened upon learning of the death of Mr. Jerry Bradshaw of Manning who died on March 31, 2003, at the age of sixty-five; and

Whereas, Mr. Bradshaw was born and raised in Virginia and moved to Manning as a young businessman to open one of the most well-known establishments in the trucking industry; and

Whereas, he was the loving husband of Lola Bradshaw of Manning and was the devoted father of six children; and

Whereas, Mr. Bradshaw graduated from the Richmond Campus of William and Mary College and began his professional life as a sales manager for Pure/Union 76 Oil Company until the company decided to build a truck stop three miles west of Manning; and

Whereas, with innovative ideas and a positive attitude, Mr. Bradshaw leased the new building, perfectly positioned at the intersection of Interstate 95 and South Carolina Highway 261, and opened Jerry's Truck Stop in November of 1972, catering to the traveling needs of truckers, tourists, and locals; and

Whereas, Mr. Bradshaw's friendly disposition attracted people from all over to his truck stop, and for thirty years patrons of the establishment's general store, full-service restaurant, and fast-food franchises appreciated his hard work and commitment to excellence; and

Whereas, he was the President of the TA Travel Center and was dedicated to providing the best service to his customers; and

Whereas, Mr. Bradshaw is survived by his wife, Lola, and his six adult children. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, express profound sorrow upon learning of the death of Mr. Jerry Bradshaw of Manning and extend deepest sympathy to his family and many friends.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mrs. Lola Bradshaw of Manning.
