Whereas, the people of Manning and Clarendon County are deeply saddened by the death of Joy Sue Thames Brewer, who passed away at the young age of forty-nine; and
Whereas, Mrs. Brewer was born March 29, 1954, in Sumter to Frank A. and Athlene Hodge Thames; and
Whereas, a dedicated public servant to the City of Manning for over sixteen years, Joy Brewer worked closely with the mayor, administrator, and city council members, and imbued everyone she met with a warm smile and her zest for life; and
Whereas, Joy Brewer was also a member of Providence Baptist Church and the United Daughters of the Confederacy. She was a volunteer for Rolling Readers and the first volunteer for the Worldwide Research Program for Diabetes Control and Complications Trials; and
Whereas, Mrs. Brewer will be remembered by friends as always living up to her name for she was truly a "Joy" to be around; and
Whereas, Joy Brewer will be greatly missed by the many people whose lives she touched with her warm personality. She is survived by her husband, Thomas G. "Tom" Brewer, Jr.; her son, Thomas G. "Tommy" Brewer III, and his wife, Shanna; a grandson, Thomas G. "Quinn" Brewer IV; two brothers; and many other family members and friends. Now, therefore,
