A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO EXTEND THE CONGRATULATIONS OF THE MEMBERS OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA GENERAL ASSEMBLY TO THE CHAPIN HIGH SCHOOL "EAGLES" AND THEIR COACH, DICK HILLER, ON WINNING THE 2003 CLASS AA BOYS' SOCCER CHAMPIONSHIP AND TO COMMEND THEM FOR THEIR HARD WORK, COMPETITIVE SPIRIT, AND DEDICATION TO BECOME A CHAMPIONSHIP TEAM.

Whereas, being a member of a sports team allows young people to have the opportunity to learn the skills of cooperation and teamwork while developing great athletic talents; and

Whereas, to become a champion in soccer, all members of the team and the coaching staff must have outstanding leadership and physical abilities; and

Whereas, with the guidance of Head Coach Dick Hiller and Assistant Coaches Scott Harmon and Chris Christian, the boys' soccer team of Chapin High School faced intimidating opponents and played tough games but were rewarded by being given the chance to become State Champions; and

Whereas, along their journey to the championship game, this team enjoyed victories and felt defeat but remained focused on their common goal of being named the best team in the State; and

Whereas, the Chapin "Eagles" ended their season with an impressive record of nineteen wins and four losses and, most importantly, captured the 2003 Class AA Boys' Soccer State Championship Title in the fifth straight match-up between Chapin and Bishop England; and

Whereas, this four to three victory marks the second consecutive state title for the Eagles; and

Whereas, the members of this exceptional team are Drew Comalander, Caleb Garrett, Chandler Cook, Justin Widener, John Longshore, Justin Long, Stephen Stellfox, Kevin Geoghegan, David Holaday, Trey Aull, Chris Wall, Kyle Jordan, Jason Walker, Tyler Bair, Spencer Lovelace, Eric Joyner, Conner Watson, Robert Pope, and Matt Musick; and

Whereas, with the support of their family, friends, and community, these young men have become champions both on and off the soccer field. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the South Carolina General Assembly, by this resolution, wish to extend their congratulations to the Chapin High School "Eagles" and their coach, Dick Hiller, on winning the 2003 Class AA Boys' Soccer Championship and to commend them for their hard work, competitive spirit, and dedication to become a championship team.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the members of the Chapin High School Boys' Soccer Team and Coach Dick Hiller.
