A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO EXTEND THE CONGRATULATIONS OF THE MEMBERS OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES TO THE MEMBERS OF THE 2003 SUMMERVILLE HIGH SCHOOL "GREEN WAVES" BOYS SWIM TEAM AND HEAD COACH DAN MCDONOUGH FOR THEIR OUTSTANDING STATE CHAMPIONSHIP WIN IN THE CLASS AAAA STATE SWIM TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP COMPETITION.

Whereas, being a member of a sports team allows young people to have the opportunity to learn the skills of cooperation and teamwork while developing great athletic talents; and

Whereas, to become a champion in swimming, all members of the team and the coaching staff must have outstanding leadership and physical abilities; and

Whereas, the Summerville High School "Green Waves" of Dorchester County capped their thrilling 2003 swim season by taking the Class AAAA State Title in a 395-370 victory over Wando High School at the University of South Carolina Pool in Columbia; and

Whereas, the overwhelming victory was a true team effort with Johnny Wactor, Richard Johnson, Bryan Sadler, Eric Lehman, Terry Gabbert, Nathan Long, and Paul Westfall leading the way for the "Green Waves," and with the support and contributive efforts of Michael Gabbert, Raymond Balint, Michael Kelly, and Bryson Jeffords; and

Whereas, Johnny Wactor led the team winning three state championships for the 50 meter free, the 100 meter fly, and as a member of the first place 200 meter free relay team along with Richard Johnson, Terry Gabbert, and Bryan Sadler; and

Whereas, under the guidance and wisdom of Head Coach Dan McDonough, ten of the Summerville High School "Green Waves" swimmers lowered their times enabling the team to win their first state championship title and to capture the coveted title from defending champions, the Wando "Warriors"; and

Whereas, this outstanding finish for the 2003 Summerville Boys Swim Team to capture the state title has brought pride to not only Summerville High School, its administration, staff, alumni, students, and loyal fans, but also the members of Dorchester County. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, extend their congratulations to the members of the 2003 Summerville High School "Green Waves" Boys Swim Team and Head Coach Dan McDonough for their outstanding championship win in the Class AAAA State Swim Team Championship Competition.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to the 2003 Summerville High School Boys Swim Team and Head Coach Dan McDonough.
