By prior motion of Senator HAYES, with unanimous consent, Amendment No. 1 was taken up for immediate consideration and adopted.

Senator HAYES proposed the following amendment (HAYES-956), which was adopted:

Amend the bill, as and if amended, by striking all the enacting words and inserting:

SECTION   1.   After utilizing three make-up days, up to three school days missed by students enrolled in any school in the York County

School Districts 1, 2, 3, and 4 because the school was closed due to snow, extreme weather conditions, or other disruptions are exempt from being made up if approval is granted through a majority vote of the applicable local school board.

SECTION   2.   This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.

Renumber sections to conform.

Amend title to conform.

By prior motion of Senator HAYES, with unanimous consent, the amendment was adopted.

There being no further amendments, the Bill was read the second time, passed and ordered to a third reading.

S. 956--Ordered to a Third Reading

On motion of Senator HAYES, with unanimous consent, S. 956 was ordered to receive a third reading on Tuesday, March 23, 2004.

MOTION ADOPTED

On motion of Senator SHORT, with unanimous consent, the Senate stood adjourned out of respect to the memory of Captain Todd Orr of Chester, S.C.

ADJOURNMENT
