A BILL

TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 29-15-25 SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT A TOWING COMPANY UNDER CERTAIN CIRCUMSTANCES MAY PLACE A LIEN ON A MOTOR VEHICLE THAT IT HAS STORED.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION    1.    Chapter 15, Title 29 of the 1976 Code is amended by adding:

"Section 29-15-25.    Notwithstanding another provision of law, a proprietor, owner, or operator of a towing company may place a lien against a motor vehicle stored on his property after thirty days have passed since written notice has been given to the owner of the motor vehicle that the motor vehicle may no longer be stored on the company's premises."

SECTION    2.    This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
