A SENATE RESOLUTION

RECOGNIZING AND HONORING MRS. FLORENCE G. FOXWORTH OF MARION, SOUTH CAROLINA, UPON THE OCCASION OF HER RETIREMENT FROM HER MORE THAN FIFTY-FIVE YEARS OF TEACHING IN THE PUBLIC SCHOOL SYSTEM, AND EXTEND TO HER EVERY BEST WISH FOR A HAPPY AND ENJOYABLE FUTURE.

Whereas, Mrs. Florence G. Foxworth has been a public school teacher for more than fifty-five years, serving students at Pleasant Grove Elelmentary School from 1951-1957, Terrell's Bay High School from 1957-1968, and Mullins High School from 1968 to 2006; and

Whereas, Mrs. Foxworth received a Bachelor's degree from Benedict College in 1951, certification in Special Education from the University of Virginia in 1963, and a Master's degree in Special Education from North Central University in 1974; and

Whereas, Mrs. Foxworth's years of unwavering devotion to her students has not gone unnoticed. She has received the Positive Image Award, the Personality of the South Award, Honor Roll Teacher of the Year for Marion School District Two, Teacher of the Year Award, the Golden Apple Award, for working with special needs children, and the Woman of the Year Award for Marion County 2003, to name a few; and

Whereas, Mrs. Foxworth is equally dedicated to the community, serving in various capacities. She is a volunteer reader for nursing home patients, serves on the Board of Disabilities and Special Needs, is a member of the American Cancer Society, the American Heart Association, and the Council of Exceptional Children, donates to her alma mater Benedict College, volunteers for the Voter Registration in Marion County, is on the South Carolina Women Democrat Women's Council, and is Marion County Chairperson for the United Negro College Fund; and

Whereas, upon her retirement she will have more time to devote to her charitable ventures, to the many roles she plays at her church, and to her hobbies, reading and singing. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate:

That the members of the Senate, by this resolution, honor and recognize Mrs. Florence Foxworth upon the occasion of her retirement, and wish her much happiness and joy in the future.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mrs. Florence G. Foxworth.
