TO CONGRATULATE "MISS" CARRIE BLONDELLE HARMON OF LEXINGTON COUNTY ON THE OCCASION OF HER ONE HUNDREDTH BIRTHDAY AND TO WISH HER A JOYOUS BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION AND MANY MORE YEARS OF HEALTH AND HAPPINESS.
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina Senate are pleased to learn that "Miss" Carrie Blondelle Harmon will celebrate her one hundredth birthday on July 3, 2006; and
Whereas, a lifelong resident of Lexington County, "Miss" Blondelle Harmon has lived in her historic pre-civil war home on West Main Street in Lexington for an incredible ninety-nine years; and
Whereas, a prominent citizen, she is well-known among the people of her community for her kind spirit and grace; and
Whereas, she worked for many years as a merchant and always remained honest and fair in all her business dealings; and
Whereas, passionate about Lexington County history, she has worked hard to record and preserve historical events that occurred in her community and is recognized as a widely-acclaimed local historian; and
Whereas, "Miss" Blondelle Harmon is the eldest, lifelong member of St. Stephen's Lutheran Church and has meant more to St. Stephen's than almost any other member; and
Whereas, the Senate is proud to honor this truly lovely lady for her extraordinary one hundred years as an outstanding citizen of Lexington County, and wishes her all the best in the years to come. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate:
That the members of the South Carolina Senate, by this resolution, congratulate "Miss" Carrie Blondelle Harmon of Lexington County on the occasion of her one hundredth birthday and wish her a joyous birthday celebration and many more years of health and happiness.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to "Miss" Blondelle Harmon.
