VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 22-2-13 SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT A MEMBER OF THE SENATE WHO PRACTICES LAW IN MAGISTRATES COURT MAY NOT PARTICIPATE IN THE SELECTION OF A MAGISTRATE.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
SECTION 1. Chapter 2, Title 22 of the 1976 Code is amended by adding:
"Section 22-2-13. Notwithstanding another provision of law, a member of the Senate who practices law in magistrates court may not participate in the selection of a magistrate."
SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
