A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE AND CONGRATULATE THE CHESTERFIELD HIGH SCHOOL "RAMS" WRESTLING TEAM, HEAD COACH LANCE ABERNATHY, AND HIS STAFF FOR THEIR OUTSTANDING 2004-2005 SEASON AND SECOND CONSECUTIVE CLASS AA/A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP.

Whereas, on February 12, 2005, the Chesterfield High School "Rams" Wrestling Team crowned their outstanding 2004-2005 season by winning their second consecutive Class AA/A State Championship with a dominating 57-22 victory over Broome High School; and

Whereas, Chesterfield jumped out to a commanding thirty point lead early in the match as the first five "Rams" wrestlers pinned their opponents; and

Whereas, Broome High School fought back, however, winning the next three matches and cutting the lead to 30-16; and

Whereas, Chesterfield wrestler Kevin Davis put a stop to Broome's momentum pinning his opponent midway through the second period and Chesterfield won the next four matches, cruising to victory; and

Whereas, before the Championship match, the "Rams" outscored their playoff opponents 206-100 entering the final four and defeated Swansea 41-27 in the semifinals; and

Whereas, the win in the State Championship capped an impressive 24-2 season for the "Rams"; and

Whereas, the Chesterfield High School "Rams", coached by Lance Abernathy, have truly established themselves as a dominant power in Class AA/A wrestling, and with their continued focus and desire their success should continue well into the future; and

Whereas, the members of the 2004-2005 "Rams" Wrestling Team include Trey Alley, Patrick Vaughn, Dalton Harper, Steven James, Danny Curtis, Dave Michaud, Dan Hanna, Parker Anderson, Brandon Sellers, Tony Moser, Patrick Barefoot, Scott Deemer, EZ Melton, Chris Hurst, Jeff Walker, Dustin Gooden, Evan Stepp, Kevin Davis, and RL Stack. Head Coach Abernathy was assisted by Assistant Coaches Joe Alley and Victor Barefoot; and

Whereas, in recognition of their efforts, the members of the General Assembly are proud to take this opportunity to commend the 2004-2005 Chesterfield High School "Rams" Wrestling Team, Head Coach Lance Abernathy, and his staff for their hard work and tenacity, and congratulate them on winning the Class AA/A State Wrestling Championship. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, recognize and congratulate the Chesterfield High School "Rams" Wrestling Team, Head Coach Lance Abernathy, and his staff for their outstanding 2004-2005 season and second consecutive Class AA/A State Championship.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to the Chesterfield High School "Rams" Wrestling Team and Head Coach Lance Abernathy.
