A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE THE BROOME HIGH SCHOOL "CENTURIONS" OF SPARTANBURG COUNTY ON THEIR 2004-2005 STATE AA BASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIP, AND TO HONOR THE PLAYERS AND COACH HAL MCMANUS AND HIS FINE STAFF ON THEIR IMPRESSIVE SEASON.

Whereas, it has come to the attention of the members of the General Assembly that the Broome High School "Centurions" boys' basketball team has had an outstanding season; and

Whereas, the Centurions capped their phenomenal 2004-2005 basketball season by capturing the AA State Championship with a resounding 66-57 victory against Lee Central High School; and

Whereas, for the second straight year, this team has been named AA Region Champions with a record of 10-1; and

Whereas, the Centurions crafted a 24-6 record to finish with the most wins in school history; and

Whereas, the all Region II AA players were D. J. Moore, Junior Salters, Teriall Brannon, and Adrian Hill; and

Whereas, the 2004-2005 All-State Player is D. J. Moore, who is a two-time All-State Player; and

Whereas, the Centurion basketball team was named team of the week twice by the Spartanburg Tip-Off Club; and

Whereas, Head Coach Hal McManus and Assistant Coaches, David Hammel and Ben Martin, along with Athletic Director Quay Farr and Principal Harvey Dailey are to be commended for establishing an environment in which these young men could accomplish something in which they will always be proud and remember. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly congratulate the Broome High School "Centurions" of Spartanburg County on their 2004-2005 State AA Basketball Championship, and to honor the players and Coach Hal McManus and his fine staff on their impressive season.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Coach McManus.
