A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE AND CONGRATULATE THE CAROLINAS INDEPENDENT AUTOMOBILE DEALERS ASSOCIATION ON THE OCCASION OF ITS FIFTIETH ANNIVERSARY OF UPHOLDING HIGH STANDARDS IN ETHICS AND FAIR DEALING IN THE INDEPENDENT AUTOMOBILE MARKET AND TO EXTEND BEST WISHES TO THE ASSOCIATION FOR CONTINUED SUCCESS IN THE FUTURE.

Whereas, the Carolinas Independent Automobile Dealers Association was founded in 1955 by a small group of South Carolina and North Carolina dealers whose purpose was to better the reputation of independent automobile dealers; and

Whereas, over the past fifty years the CIADA has grown substantially, now boasting a membership of over 2500 member-dealers, making CIADA the largest association of its kind in the United States; and

Whereas, the CIADA maintains a strong presence in leadership of the National Independent Automobile Dealers Association, with two of its members serving as past presidents of the National Independent Automobile Dealers Association, and the most current president, to be elected in June 2005, as the premier female president to be elected to the national organization; and

Whereas, the CIADA always has been committed to adhering to a strong code of ethics, binding members to employ truth and accuracy in every deal, to avoid any act that would bring disrepute to the motor vehicle industry, and to maintain a general duty of integrity, honor and fair dealing toward the general public, among other provisions; and

Whereas, the CIADA has continually been recognized as having the most professional dealer education programs in the nation, faithfully striving to provide their members with the largest array of services to assist the dealers in operating ethical and compliant dealerships. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the House of Representatives recognize and congratulate the Carolinas Independent Automobile Dealers Association for fifty years of growth and success in upholding fair standards in the independent automobile market, and extend their best wishes in all future endeavors.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to James L. Edwards, Executive Director of CIADA.
