A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO HONOR AND COMMEND J. RICHARD "RICK" JONES OF HARTSVILLE FOR HIS OUTSTANDING COMMITMENT AND SERVICE TO THE DARLINGTON COUNTY DISABILITIES AND SPECIAL NEEDS BOARD AND TO WISH HIM THE BEST IN ALL FUTURE ENDEAVORS.

Whereas, a vital member of the Darlington County Disabilities and Special Needs Board from 1997-2005, and serving as board chair from 2000-2001, J. Richard "Rick" Jones of Hartsville has given tirelessly of himself in helping those South Carolinians who are often unable to help themselves; and

Whereas, during his time as board chair, Mr. Jones nearly doubled the amount of people with disabilities served by the board and helped increased the budget from three million to four million six hundred thousand dollars in order to better serve the citizens of Darlington County; and

Whereas, having a true heart for those people who are confined to their homes with disabilities, he worked to increase recreational opportunities and helped to initiate a "person-centered" focus to service delivery; and

Whereas, instrumental in establishing a comprehensive quality assurance system and risk management system, Mr. Jones ensured that the board and its programs would be run safely and efficiently; and

Whereas, always cognizant of the needs of others, Mr. Jones actively advocated increasing direct support staff wages in the organization by twenty percent in five years; and

Whereas, an extraordinary public servant, Mr. Jones has continually put others before himself and serves as a role model for the Darlington community in his selfless efforts for the benefit of the people of Darlington and the State. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the House of Representatives of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, honor and commend J. Richard "Rick" Jones of Hartsville for his outstanding commitment and service to the Darlington County Disabilities and Special Needs Board, and to wish him the best in all future endeavors.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to J. Richard "Rick" Jones.
