A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO HONOR AND RECOGNIZE TRIANGLE CHILD CARE CENTER OF NEWBERRY COUNTY AND ITS FOUNDERS, CLYDE AND JESSIE GILLIAM HILL, FOR THEIR OUTSTANDING COMMITMENT TO LOVING, QUALITY CHILDCARE ON THE CENTER'S THIRTIETH ANNIVERSARY, AND TO EXTEND BEST WISHES FOR GROWTH AND CONTINUED SUCCESS IN THE COMING YEARS.

Whereas, the Triangle Child Care Center has provided quality early childhood education to the citizens of Newberry County for over thirty years and continues to offer innovative instruction with a professional staff in a safe, nurturing atmosphere; and

Whereas, officially opening the center on September 7, 1975, Clyde and Jessie Hill, both public school educators, had a vision and a true heart for developing and maintaining the best possible programs and services meant to ensure that each child grew from rich educational experiences; and

Whereas, originally conceived to fill a void in serving African-American youth, as there were no federally-funded programs available at the time, the mission of the center later changed to serve all youth and infants, including mentally and physically challenged children, regardless of race, religion, national origin, or economic status; and

Whereas, providing services to eighty to one hundred children a day, the center has served more than 2,030 children aged from infancy to fourteen years since its inception; and

Whereas, eight loving individuals, all with a true passion for the education of young children, staff the center and take on a deep responsibility to educate all children to their fullest potential; and

Whereas, graduates of the Triangle Child Care Center have gone on to accomplish great things, and include teachers, lawyers, managers, counselors, and social workers. Their accomplishments are due in part, at least, to the instruction and support found at the center; and

Whereas, even after thirty years of operation, Jessie and Clyde Hill continue to share the same love and commitment to the center as they did when it first opened, as Jessie continues to serve as Director, supervising all employees, while Clyde manages the day-to-day operations of the business and serves on the Newberry School Board; and

Whereas, in an age where childcare care services are sometimes untrustworthy and where quality education is at a premium, Newberry County citizens are fortunate to have such committed, caring individuals who have given their lives so selflessly for the betterment of the children in their community. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, honor and recognize the Triangle Child Care Center of Newberry County and its founders, Clyde and Jessie Gilliam Hill, on their outstanding commitment to loving, quality childcare care on the center's thirtieth anniversary, and extend best wishes for growth and continued success in the coming years.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the Triangle Child Care Center owners, Clyde and Jessie Hill.
