VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
TO HONOR THE CHRIST CHURCH EPISCOPAL SCHOOL BOYS SOCCER TEAM OF GREENVILLE ON ITS 2005 CLASS A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE AND TO HONOR THE PLAYERS AND THEIR COACHES, DAVID WILCOX AND BRENT ROBERTS, ON ANOTHER EXTRAORDINARY SEASON.
Whereas, the Christ Church Boys Soccer Team capped an incredible 2005 season by winning the 2005 Class A State Championship title, marking the fifth consecutive year of such distinction; and
Whereas, this year's State Championship win was truly remarkable, as Christ Church won with a shutout in the championship game, with the game-winning goal scored in overtime by freshman Michael Brearly and assisted by team captain Fletcher McCraw; and
Whereas, during the regular season, Christ Church shut out "Big 16" opponents Dorman High School and Spartanburg High School which is a remarkable achievement for a school of this size; and
Whereas, standouts on the team included senior captains Fletcher McCraw and Penn Ely and sophomore Rick Furman, who were all named All-State players; and
Whereas, Fletcher McCraw brought further acclaim to the team in being named a National Soccer Coaches Association of America Scholar All-American, and will play in the Carolina Elite Soccer Academy North/South senior All-Star game in June; and
Whereas, the success celebrated by the team and the Christ Church School community is owed in large part to the tireless commitment and motivation offered by Head Coach David Wilcox, who was named National Soccer Coaches Association of America Private/Parochial Coach of the Year; and
Whereas, the members of the House of Representatives take great pride in recognizing the young men of the Christ Church Episcopal School Boys Soccer Team as outstanding athletes and veritable role models for all student athletes across the State of South Carolina. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the House of Representatives of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, congratulate the Christ Church Episcopal School Boys Soccer Team of Greenville on its 2005 Class A State Championship title and honor the players and their coaches, David Wilcox and Brent Roberts, on another extraordinary season.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Coach Wilcox.
