VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
THANKING DR. C. MICHAEL CAMPBELL OF ABBEVILLE COUNTY FOR HIS THIRTY-ONE YEARS OF SERVICE TO AND LEADERSHIP OF THE ABBEVILLE COUNTY SCHOOLS UPON HIS RESIGNATION AS ABBEVILLE COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT SUPERINTENDENT, AND WISHING HIM SUCCESS IN HIS LATEST ENDEAVOR AS A CLEMSON UNIVERSITY FACULTY MEMBER AND MENTOR TO ASPIRING EDUCATION ADMINISTRATORS.
Whereas, Dr. C. Michael Campbell, Superintendent of Abbeville County School District since 2001, is a native son of Abbeville; and
Whereas, his thirty-one years of contributions to the education of Abbeville's young people began with his roles as math teacher and coach at Abbeville High School, and continued when he became principal of the school twelve years later; and
Whereas, he joined the district staff in 2000 as Director of Instruction, and was named superintendent a year later; and
Whereas, under Dr. Campbell's leadership the district was able to make substantial progress toward achieving its academic goals, even in the face of significant funding cuts in serious economic times; and
Whereas, the opportunity to cap his academic career at the head of the classroom at Clemson University, where he earned his own Ph.D. in 2000, is the fulfillment of his professional dream; and
Whereas, the thousands of students and parents and the many teachers, administrators, and Abbeville citizens whose lives were touched by Dr. Mike Campbell will miss his personal connection with Abbeville's schools; and
Whereas, his educational legacy of more than thirty years leaves the county and its citizens with a firm foundation. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the House of Representatives thank Dr. C. Michael Campbell of Abbeville County for his thirty-one years of service to and leadership of the Abbeville County schools upon his resignation as Abbeville County School District Superintendent, and wish him success in his latest endeavor as a Clemson University faculty member and mentor to aspiring education administrators.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Dr. C. Michael Campbell.
