A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO HONOR AND COMMEND NANCY GREGORY OF RICHLAND COUNTY FOR HER OUTSTANDING CONTRIBUTIONS TO SOUTH CAROLINA PUBLIC SCHOOLS AND TO CONGRATULATE HER ON BEING NAMED SOUTH CAROLINA'S MIDDLE SCHOOL PRINCIPAL OF THE YEAR.

Whereas, it is with great pride that the members of the House of Representatives honor those individuals who devote their lives to the education of South Carolina's youth; and

Whereas, Blythewood Middle School Principal Nancy Gregory certainly stands as one such individual, as her twenty-nine-year career as an educator and administrator has contributed enormously to the success of South Carolina public schools; and

Whereas, principal of Blythewood Middle School for the past five years, Ms. Gregory has seen to the implementation of new and innovative programs at the school, creating small learning communities and advancing academic achievement of all students; and

Whereas, under her leadership, the school was the first in South Carolina to introduce the Achievement Via Individual Determination Program, a project designed to help underserved students with average ability in preparing for college. She also created the award-winning ITEC Program to integrate technology into the classroom; and

Whereas, Ms. Gregory's success in inspiring educators and students alike to give their best to every academic endeavor is evident from the school's success on the state school report card, as Blythewood Middle School ranks in the top four percent of middle schools in the state based on the absolute index; and

Whereas, recognizing her many accomplishments and extraordinary dedication to her career, the South Carolina Association of Middle School Administrators honored her with the South Carolina Middle Level Principal of the Year Award. She will go on to represent South Carolina in the MetLife/National Association of Secondary School Principals national award competition, and she is also eligible for the National Association of Elementary School Principals National Distinguished Principal Award; and

Whereas, the House of Representatives lauds Nancy Gregory for her tireless dedication to her students and staff, and is honored to have her represent South Carolina on a national level. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the House of Representatives of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, honor and commend Ms. Nancy Gregory of Richland County for her outstanding contributions to South Carolina public schools and congratulate her for being named South Carolina's Middle School Principal of the Year.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Blythewood Middle School Principal Nancy Gregory.
