A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE MR. AND MRS. LUTHER STEWART OF VARNVILLE ON THEIR TWENTY-FIFTH WEDDING ANNIVERSARY ON APRIL 11, 2006, AND TO EXTEND BEST WISHES TO THE ENTIRE STEWART FAMILY ON THIS WONDERFUL OCCASION.

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly are pleased to learn that Mr. and Mrs. Luther Stewart of Varnville will celebrate their silver wedding anniversary on April 11, 2006; and

Whereas, on August 20, 1957, Luther Eddie Stewart was born to Isaiah and Bertha Stewart at Brooklyn Memorial Hospital in Brooklyn, New York. He is the youngest of five siblings. He has two brothers and two sisters; and

Whereas, on May 20, 1959, Judy Darlene Wright was born to Henry and Katherine Wright at Hampton General Hospital in Varnville, South Carolina. She is the sixth child of thirteen siblings. She has eight brothers and three sisters. One brother has unfortunately died; and

Whereas, in 1978 at the Royal Church of Christ in Savannah, Georgia, Luther and Judy met and became best friends. The friendship soon flourished and love bloomed. After one year, in 1979, at the home of Judy and her parents, Luther proposed marriage; and

Whereas, On April 11, 1981, at 2:00 in the afternoon at the Varnville Gazebo, Luther Eddie and Judy Darlene made a commitment before God and man in the bounds of holy matrimony by exchanging vows. The officiating pastor for the occasion was the Elder Jerome Black of the Royal Church of Christ, Savannah, Georgia; and

Whereas, Luther graduated from Battery Creek High School in Beaufort; he pursued a career in carpentry and truck driving. He is also the Head Deacon at Christ Church the Deliverance Temple of God in Varnville; and

Whereas, Judy is a 1977 graduate of Wade Hampton High School in Varnville; she pursued an education as a medical secretary at the Atlanta College of Dental and Medical Assistants. She later became a medical secretary in the medical records department at Hampton General Hospital. Judy also is an evangelist at Christ Church the Deliverance Temple of God in Varnville; and

Whereas, the members of General Assembly, by this resolution, would like to publicly recognize and honor Luther and Judy Stewart upon the occasion of this important milestone in their lives. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly congratulate Mr. and Mrs. Luther Stewart of Varnville on their twenty-fifth wedding anniversary on April 11, 2006, and extend best wishes to the entire Stewart family on this wonderful occasion.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mr. and Mrs. Luther Stewart.
