A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO EXPRESS SINCERE GRATITUDE TO JEAN L. CHESNO FOR HER SERVICE TO THE STATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA AND TO RECOGNIZE HER DEDICATION TO THE SOUTH CAROLINA HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES, IN PARTICULAR, AND TO WISH HER CONTINUED HAPPINESS IN THE FUTURE.

Whereas, it is with great pleasure that the South Carolina General Assembly recognizes those individuals who tirelessly give of their time and talents as true public servants to this State for many years; and

Whereas, for her exceptional work as a legislative aide since February of 1987, Jean Chesno certainly stands out as an outstanding example of a public servant so deserving of this special recognition; and

Whereas, during her tenure with the South Carolina House of Representatives, Mrs. Chesno has worked closely with Representatives M. O. Alexander, Thomas Alexander, Larry Koon, Claude Marchbanks, Rex Rice, Bill Sandifer, Teddy Trotter, Gresham Barrett, Phil Owens, B. R. Skelton, and Davey Hiott; and

Whereas, as a legislative aide she was given the opportunity to see firsthand how the South Carolina legislative process works through her participation in House meetings, routing of bills, and the handling of legislative correspondence in a timely and professional manner. She often serves as the first point of contact for the public and lobbyists alike and always treats everyone with dignity and respect. She is also a person who endeavors to go above and beyond what is required of her and for this we truly thank her; and

Whereas, the daughter of Gary Eartle Lockee and the late Billie Jean Lockee, this dedicated State employee is also a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Mrs. Chesno is married to Dr. Frank Chesno and she is very proud of her large family: Betsy and Barron Grier, daughter and son-in-law; Gary Chesno, son; and Suzie and James Steed, daughter and son-in-law. She is, perhaps, the proudest of her three grandchildren: Ava and Barron Grier and Conley Steed; and

Whereas, active in the Blythewood community, she is a member of the Blythewood Garden Club and attends Sandy Level Baptist Church; and

Whereas, a great asset to the South Carolina Legislature for twenty years, Mrs. Chesno's presence in the Blatt is a blessing to all who are privileged to know her; and

Whereas, the South Carolina General Assembly is pleased to extend its profound appreciation to this truly wonderful lady and extraordinary public servant for her outstanding service to the South Carolina House of Representatives over the past twenty years. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, express sincere gratitude to Jean L. Chesno for her service to the State of South Carolina and recognize her dedication to the South Carolina House of Representatives, in particular, and wish her continued happiness in the future.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Jean L. Chesno.
