Whereas, founded on May 24, 1873 by Reverend Elijah Key and Reverend Edmond Gardenhire, Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church of Parksville, South Carolina, celebrates a rich one hundred and thirty-three-year history; and

Whereas, Reverend Henry Hill served as the congregation's first pastor, with Deacons Joe White and Josh Briggs serving the church under him; and

Whereas, in 1886 Reverend Ben Harrison took over the pulpit and in that same year, as the church grew, several more deacons were ordained; and

Whereas, the congregation saw to many changes in the church in the 1990's, as construction began on a multi-purpose building, a public address system was installed, and the Nurses' Guild, Beautification Club, Courtesy Club, and male choir were all founded. Further structural changes to the interior and exterior of the church were also made during that decade; and

Whereas, beautiful stained glass windows were installed in the church in September 2000, and in 2001 the second Sunday worship services began with Reverend Melvin Gordon officiating; and

Whereas, in 2003 the congregation was blessed to have two of its own members enter into the ministry, and in 2004 Reverend E. M. Gordon celebrated forty years of leadership and dedication as pastor of the church; and

Whereas, over the rich history of this wonderful place of worship, the congregations and pastors have served God and their fellowmen with faithfulness and in obedience to God's commands; and

Whereas, the General Assembly is proud to recognize the leadership and congregation of Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church on their one hundred and thirty-third anniversary, and is certain that they will continue to grow and thrive in the years to come. Now, therefore,
